Trancoder Operation
Is the transcoder usage defined anywhere?
I understand how to turn it on, and the DIVx streams are pretty intuitive, but what it is DVD config for, how is it used? Also, is there anyway to *force* an MPEG2 PS to go through the transcode server (i.e. a VOB is an MPEG2 PS) -MrD |

I believe "DVD" refers the the MPEG-2 profile used for encoding, not to anything dealing with DVD rips. I don't believe there's currently a way to force MPEG-2 through the transcoder.

I didn't expect DVD to refer to DVD rips, but if DVD refers to the encoded program, then why would it need to be transcoded for the MVP?
And since Sage creates MPEG-2 PS then everything (including) VOBs should go through this transcoder. But this is not what I am experiencing. Sage is recognizing the MPEG-2 PS as a native format and sending it straight to the MVP. -MrD |

Please explain what each property does
media_server/transcode_quality/DVD= media_server/transcode_quality/MPEG4-128K= media_server/transcode_quality/MPEG4-256K= media_server/transcode_quality/MPEG4-384K= media_server/transcode_quality/MPEG4-Full-384K= I am assuming that the arguments to the right of the equals are passed to ffmpeg (the transcoder). So how does Sage know which row to select for a particular type of video file? -MrD |

My guess would be that they don't apply to the MVP (there for future use?)
Or maybe with the miniclient/transcode_mode property. Really have no idea. I was hoping someone would jump in before I really display my ignorance on this subject ![]() |
