XP Remote Desktop Question
I just setup XP Pro's Remote Desktop so that if I have display issues (e.g. a crash makes Powerstrip display to a setting my TV won't display) I can just go to a computer and fix the issue remotely.
I was also thinking it would be nice for scheduling recordings: I wouldn't have to turn on my TV. Anyway, my question is this: When I exit Remote Desktop it leaves the other PC at a password screen. I think I'm technically still loged in, however. Will SageTV record in service mode while at that screen? |

I'm fairly certain it will, but I use VNC to remote control my Sage PC explicitly because it doesn't lock the workstation (leave it at the password screen) like that when I log off.

For future reference for others, Sage does continue to record in service mode after you've connected via RD.

there are 3 or so variants of VNC - realVNC, Ultravnc, etc.
Ultra can run in a browser window so you don't have to install a VNC client - but it's much slower. As to Remote Desktop - I recall reading how to tweak it so it uses the currently logged in user's screen as does VNC. Advantage: it's much faster than VNC. |
