sagetv service won't start
I had sagetv 4.0 up and running a month or so ago testing. Then suddenly the sagetvservice.exe wouldn't start. Would give an error like service failed to start in a timely manner. I haven't been able to get sagetv to work since. I tried uninstalling all windows hot fixes/updates/security patches and nothing. I also tried to do a system restore back into december, but it still won't start. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I won't to run the trial for a while to determine if I want to purchase, this glitch has got me wondering.

I had a similar problem last week - turned out my java install was messed up. Check that out.

I had the same problem with the trial once that message box started poping up telling you how many days you have left.
This is what I did to fix it: Start > Run > type services.msc > Right click SageTV and select Properties > Select Logon Tab > Check Allow Service to interact with desktop |

Still nada
I had already tried the option in services and it didn't help.
My key has run out now do you think this is causing the box? I believe the key was valid the first time this started though. How can I get a new eval key for testing. I emailed support, but they haven't responded. I just want to test this software before buying it. Any other ideas? |

Thanks for the reply, but I uninstalled the java run-time and reinstalled the latest, but it still didn't help. Any other ideas would be great....

At this point if your eval is expired don't even try to get it running. I'm not sure I understand though. The eval period is 15 days. Your first post said you had it running for a month. This is not a glitch. You get one shot at eval. You should just buy the program.

No I didn't have it running for a month I had it working about a month ago, then was testing gb-pvr, went back to sage and got a new download, no nag this second time, but the service wouln't start. Ok..well guess I'll have to either buy or blow away my machine and then eval again. Thanks.

Sometimes, a new version resets the trial period. If you don't have the very latest beta version, try that one.
