running sagetv twice on one machine
I want to connect my bedroom tv to sagetv, and be able to use it independent from the host, without the use of an ehternetextender. I use a wireless video connection, rf remote, and want to connect it via an extra tv out on the host. So i wonder: is it possible to run sagetv and sagetvclient together on one system, both with their own remote control?
The reason i want this is that i wish to connect the bedroom tv wireless, and i believe that a simple video connection is much more stable than a wifi connection running 12Mb. anyone treid before?? or can tell me if, or why this could be a problem? Last edited by georges; 01-23-2006 at 12:34 PM. |

Yes, you can run SageTV and SageTV Client on the same system. Normally, the one with focus would receive comamnd input, but if you send commands via Windows messages instead, you can specify whether to send the command to the server or a client. The bottom of p. 190 in the v4.1 PDF manual has the message target info.
The Hauppauge remote can send commands via messages, Girder can do so, or some other program could run the SendMessage utility that comes with SageTV (Appendix J in the manual). - Andy
