Question Two Tuner Question

Today I am using a PVR 350, with the Hauppauge 45 button remote and one USB-UIRT to control the set top box a PIII 900 MHz system with Sage TV. This setup is basic and it works quite well.

I want to build a two-tuner system and have a set top box for each tuner I am thinking of using a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-500MCE. I see that no remote comes with the card. I would like to hear from others that are using the WinTV-PVR-500MCE how they have it set up with Sage TV.

I am having trouble understanding the two tuner setup. What if I have two set top boxes that are from the same manufacturer and they are side by side seems like the IR signal would change both boxes. Which remote should I use to control sage with? I am sooooooo confused please help.

Thanks

If you move to a PVR-500 & get rid of your 350, all you need to do is use just about any remote w/the USB-UIRT to control SageTV -- SageTV can use it directly, so there is no need for something like Girder unless you also want to control other apps with the remote.

Then, if your USB-UIRT isn't a really old one, it has 3 zone IR blaster support, so you could look into that to control boxes that use the same IR codes. Check the USB-UIRT section of this index for some links to more info: Information Resources for Remotes, Receivers, and IR Blasters. (If you can set the boxes to use different codes, you don't need the zone control.)

Thanks Andy

I will check and see if my USB-UIRT supports zones.

Now I will have to convince the wife I need to spend money on building a new PC. I have read somewhere on this forum that this pvr stuff can be addicting now I know what they were talking about.
