A Couple Of Problems

I have a couple of problems now that i have everything setup.

First - video playback through mvp (which is all i use) freezes for about a second every 2 seconds. audio is fine. i tried to reset everything including my hub with no results. playback was fine the first day i had it. nothing has changed.

Second - everytime i reboot the server my time is wrong until i toggle the channel setup. i have it set to sync and i checked the bios time and it is correct.

Sadly I am starting to think that this may not be the solution for me. i was trying to replace my tivo. hopefully i wont have to go back to that old, tired, 40gb, single channel, $12 a month, crappy tivo.

i'm running a PIII 1ghz 512mb 320gb
sage is installed as server mode with no interface (thought that might save resources)

Are you using the updated iso?

You could try to set the bios time to GMT.

I used to have this problem constantly with the old ISO. Make sure your drive is set to DMA.... there is a command called hdparm:

hdparm -c1 -d1 /dev/hda

The only thing I could do to fix it was to enable the DMA and/or 32-bit addressing in the BIOS. And unplug the MVP and let it cycle through again.

It hasn´t happened nearly as often since.

As far as the time goes, it seems Linux keeps my BIOS time as GMT.

When I installed KDE, I changed the time zone and all has been well since.

But, if you donīt have KDE, go to this page:

We've found an issue with the MVP and a mode 0 server install which would cause this problem. We'll be putting out a fix for it today. (you other post was removed for offensive language if you're wondering where it went)
