Can't get SageTV service to work
Hi,
I tried to set up Sage running as a Windows service and followed all the steps mentioned in this thread (including setting up a separate user for the service): http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...37&postcount=8 The setup went through fine, and the service starts. But when I start the GUI (by invoking SageTV.exe), the CPU goes upto 100%, and as soon as I switch to LiveTV or play back a recording the controls in Sage do not respond any more (probably due to the CPU maxed out), and I have to kill the process. After I reconfigured Sage back to normal operation, everything is fine again. I would appreciate any help very much, since I really would like to get the service mode working. Thanks, Dirk |

I searched the forums one more time and was able to dig out a post which described a similar problem, related to running the service as a different user than the current login. Indeed, when I initially set up the service I followed the instructions given in the thread to create a new "sage" user for running the service. After I changed the service to use the current login the problem is gone !!
Is this a bug in SageTV, and does the development know about it ? At least the manual doesn't mention anything about not allowing a different user for the service ... Anyway, just happy that I finally got it running f... -Dirk |
