write XML for a recorded show
During my quest to fix the hebrew problems with the create XML file (by malore I think), I was able to correct the code using STUDIO (the fix is meant for those of us who do not use english only but hebrew and such in descriptions, where the operation of writing the actuall XML produced unreadble hebrew descriptions, becuase it used a simple jave create file, instead of a buffer and writing using a different encription).
If any one wants more details on that, just say so and I will share Now the problem I have found is that the client will not write the XML file because if it is not on the server and the file name refrences a local drive (say d:\video), then when the client tries to write the xml to the same location it does not work(cannot create the file since the path is unknown). For this to work I guess I need to change all the locations to UNC but the questions is how to do this without loosing all my recordings?? Is the correct procedure to: 1. create a share directory on the server named \\server\video 2. add that directory to the sage server recording directories 3. shut down sage, move all the files to the new directory from the old one (I know I can just rename d:\video to d:\video1, make it shared as \\server\video and create d:\video as blank). 4. restart Sage and it will not find the files in d:\video, but in \\server\video and all will be well( will it move all the files to archived???) Does that seem plausible, by the mighty sage Gurus???
