Arrow STV Import: Intelligent Suggestions (v1.0 07/Feb/2006)

So you want to try IR, but are afraid it will fill up the disk in 5 seconds with repeats of Oprah (or perhaps worse, opera!)?

Or you have IR enabled, but want an easier way to play IR Whack-a-mole to persuade Sage for the thousandth time that Friends just is not funny any more

Well, help is at hand (for users of Sage 4.1+).

This STV import adds an Intelligent Suggestions item to the Scheduled Recordings menu (Dynamic menu users need to add the new screen 'IntelligentSuggestions -- nielm')

This displays IR suggested recordings (whether enabled or not) in an easy-to-manage format, with shows grouped together, and with multiple levels of grouping.

[list][*] Hitting 'right' or mouse-clicking a group views the items in the group, or goes to the detailed info for a single show.[*] Selecting a single show pops up the usual Sage show options popup allowing you to schedule it as a recording or favorite if IR is disabled.[*] Selecting a show grouping (by default) pops up a menu allowing 'Set don't like'/'Set Watched' on all shows in the group.

The idea is that the user will use left/right/up/down to browse the menu tree, or ENTER to set options.

With the mouse, left click views the subgroup, and right click show the Options for the group.

Sorting/grouping is customisable with the options popup

Default grouping/sorting is:
category/title
In Sage 4.1.5+ 'Intelligent' sort order is also supported. This will list shows using the IR engine to put the highest priority shows first -- ie what sage thinks you will like the most. This would work best if grouping is set to By Title, or is disabled.

Download and install instructions

Oh, and it is very unlikely to work on SageMC...

That looks GREAT, I had hoped for an import since the first time I saw this functionality in the web server. Thanks !
Can't wait to get back home and try it out ...

already at v1.2... I should test more
* v1.2 06-Feb-2006 -- fixed single items options popup

and if you try to re-import it into a STV which already has it imported, then Sage will lock up (bug in the import hook...)

Great! Just whatThe Doctor ordered.

IR just eats-up to much hard drive space if left unwatched.

This is why I love Sagetv over cable dvr/Tivo/Replaytv, because of 3rd party work like yours.

Will install sometime today

Thanks for taking the time to make sage better.

Neilm, thank you!

I hope I don't sound ungrateful for asking already, but would it be possible to please consider adding a very useful feature:

Ability to specify number of rows. Currently its hard set at 5. Being able to set a higher number of rows can be very useful for people who have high res displays.

The number of rows is determined in the same was as for all tables eg default Sage Recordings/schedule/search results view... It is hardcoded to 5, but can be changed with Studio, but will affect all these other views too:

Open studio, search for VerticalEPGArea; expand; right click the Table child an select properties... Change numRows; Ok...

Neal

Is this working with V6? I have installed it, set menu option and when I click on it ... nothing. Does this als0 mean when I see Intelligent Suggestions in Webserver that nothing happens also??

Works fine for me in v6. Isn't there two seperate screens that can be linked to with this plugin? If so I believe one of them didn't work for me.

Thx Blade, I did not notice that. I tried the IS- Nielm instead of the IS SubGroup - Nielm and at least now I get something ... not good, but something. Now I get "0 Scheduled recordings for the next 3 days"

Follow up:

I presume that IS gets its info from my viewing history? Since I lost (did fresh install) my history I am slowly getting (now 2) suggestions??? Is there something I could import from old settings?

Try refreshing, or try later... The server often gets DB locked problems
