Video/Audio Decoder Settings

Do the Video/Audio Decoder Settings make a difference when using the MVP? My guess is no, since I think the MVP decodes the mpeg video/audio that is streamed from the server, but the reason I ask is because it seemed like stuttering was less when I switched to overlay. Maybe it was just a coincidence.

Also, what is the max bit-rate that can be streamed to the MVP? I have some shows that were recorded at DVD Standard play and they are choppy, also I have some HDTV shows that were recorded via a network encoder at about 5gb/hour and I just get a black screen when playing those back.

This is over a 100bt network and the server is an AMD 3700+.

The Video/Audio settings tab shouldn't even be available on the MVP, since it has its own hardware decoder that SageTV uses... so, no, trying to use overlay wouldn't make any difference.

I don't know what the max rate it will play, but its hardware can only play SD MPEG2, so HD recordings won't play. I haven't played with transcoding, so I'm not sure if the HD recordings will transcode.

But it will try won't it, I think my network encoder is still encoding to MPEG2, just an HD signal. Either way it's just symantics since it won't play anyway.
