Q: How to "Stop playback of recorded show"
Frequently, my family begins to watch a recorded show but the person wants to stop viewing and look at the guide or some such. But the program keeps playing even if you aren't looking at it. The timeline tally of where you are in the show moves along erronously.
We did find *buried in a hard to find menu" a choice called STOP Playback. Surely there is an easier way to abandon watching a recorded show without many menu manipulations. |

Do you have video playback on the menus enabled, either as the menu background or in the preview window? Use the Options command & turn that off, then playback won't continue on the menus.
If that is not it, then how are you doing playback & what are you playing? It shouldn't continue when no video is visible. Also, you can assign the Stop command to a button on the remote, if you haven't done so already. That is easier than trying to use any Stop option in some menu. - Andy

Quote:
press CTRL-G or press whatever is mapped to Stop on your remote controlOr if you have no keyboard or remote, you can use the mouse in the full-screen-video view Left click the video to bring up the timebar/controls. Click the button with a white square in it.Or, also in the full screen video view Bring up the options menu by hitting ESC or Right-click or the Options command or hit ENTER twice(caveats: As Opus4 says, the Video menus option must be set to Never or When active) Also, a search for 'Stop' in the Media Playback section of the manual brings up a few results...
