Wow, that site is pretty cool. So once this thing gets popular there's going to be a ton of commercials unless you pay? Hmmm... well, I was impressed. If nothing else, thanks for pointing out a cool website. I'm guessing that it would require help from the Pandora developers to make an addon, but I would be interested in something like that.
Hopefully they'll eventually have a way for developers to interface with their system through XML or something, but so far all they've got is the flash player I guess. So can we display a flash animation in Sage that can use the remote as a way of controlling it? Curious to see if this site gets popular and what happens with advertising. |

This is pretty sweet!!!
It would be nice if we could somehow integrate this as a plugin into Sage. And in reference to ads... I doubt you will ever see audio ads, as it looks like the site is already supported by sales of tracks that it suggests via iTunes and Amazon.com. Its a pretty ingenius idea, because it will turn music listeners onto new bands and then gives you a way to buy more music from that band. |

I'll definitely have to bookmark this one for work . I hate my co-workers choice of music .
Now someone integrate this into Sage as a plugin, and I believe you'll have one very popular addon .

While reading the FAQ I found this really neat device called a Sqeezebox. I'm now thinking of getting a few for places I just want audio.
As for Pandora itself, I got the feeling that they are interested in having others integrate their product (i.e. the above Squeezbox) so a Sage plug-in might be very do-able. BTW, I'm getting a years subsciption as soon as I leave here Great find! |

A little more reading and it turns out they have RSS feeds for:
Quote:
The RSS feeds include Album art, as well as Artist, Album and song info and there may be new feeds and features coming as well! There are already several plug-ins that use RSS feeds. All that needs to be done is customize one for Pandora. |

I liked Pandora so much, I bought a $40 FM transmitter for my HTPC http://playlistmag.com/reviews/2005/05/aurius/index.php to send the Pandora streamed music to my FM shower radio. I also have Pandora play easy listening/trance music to put me to sleep. I have a little sleep timer application which closes my web browser. The possibilities are endless. But ultimately, it sure would be nice to have this integrated into SageTV. All we need is somebody like Nielm to try Pandora

I'm not real savvy on the audio stuff, but have always wonderd why there wasn't a plugin to use internet radio stations Sage ... ie, radio.msn.com, etc ...
Not sure if Pandora can do this, but it sure would be nice for those stations I don't recieve via FM ... Even as an option to Photo slides shows ... |

Just as an FYI, here is the link for Nielm's RSS reader plugin on the Sage Community Website. Now if we could get him to load the info within Sage as opposed to spawning a browser, we would be set! http://www.sage-community.org/index....sNews#null.zip -Jason |

I haven't tried the RSS feeds yet but it was stated in the FAQ that they could be used to start a stream in a media player. They mentioned Winamp and there is a Winamp plug-in...
It would really be nice if Sage spent some time overhauling their audio jukebox and started supporting this and other net radio stations as well but I've been waiting for proper .wma tag support since .wma playback was added and still no sign of it. Another really nice addition would be support for that Squeezebox audio player. It just struck me that they are sorta like the MVP extenders but for music. One of the features I really liked was that they can operate independently of one another or can be synchronized with any number of other Squeezeboxes on your network (a feature I'd like with Sage video playback) My initial impression is that they connect to net radio stations directly but use streaming server software for access to PC media libraries. The software is called Slimserver and its open source. It would be very easy for Sage or maybe even a Studio developer to replicate the Slimserver functionality inside Sage. |
