Video files ok, DVD folders give exception error?
I have just set up the trial versions of the server and client software on my network. I can play video files from the server (though not with ac3 audio which sux!), but if I try to play a dvd that I have ripped to a folder (with video_ts, etc), I get the error :-
sage.PlaybackException: ERROR (-3,0 x80070057): There was a problem accessing the filesystem for playback. Now, it can't be a permissions problem with disc access as I can play other video files quite happily. Before anyone asks, I have tried all manner of renderer/filter options and to no avail. One last thing, The DVD folders in question actually play fine on the server computer. HELP! |

For DVD playback the client needs direct access to the files on the server, using the pathname that the server sees..
This means you have to set up shares on the server, and either use UNC paths for the import library (easiest), or map disks on the client to match the server's. Quote:
(Oddly I could not find this in the manual...) See also Re AC3 audio problems: check that the client has an AC3 decoder (AC3Filter for instance)

Just a beginner/peon's guess, but if you are using the trial, you likely need a decoder that supports DVD playback such as Nvidia's PureVideo decoder. The basic Sage decoder does not support the viewing of DVDs and bombs out with exception message you are showing here if you try.
If you are trying all of this out, you may want to download and install the Nvidia Purevideo decoder trial as well to see how hte DVD playback works. Also, I have heard a number of people say it improves the picture quality as well (I didn't notice it all that much). And no, I haven't found a free decoder that works with DVDs, however they are suppose to come with your DVD player??? http://www.nvidia.com/object/dvd_dec...185-trial.html Anyway, my two cents...hope it helps. |
