HBO stops working with Windows Media Center
This just ticks me off!! Hopefully this will never affect sageTV.
======================================================= According to the Recorded TV list, Media Center recorded it just fine, but trying to play it back results in the dreaded “Restricted Content” error. http://www.edbott.com/mediacenter/ar...-media-center/

Ouch. Its starting already. Hopefully someone will find a way around it soon, espeically if SageTV decides to conform to DRM standards.

I don't see an upside to Sage conforming to DRM standards. Sure, we'd all like to have 'no hassle' HD, but at what price? If I'm forced into new hardware, and MCE then the networks can take HD and shove it up their 'cable' boxes.
Right now, I can do HD with 169 time via satellite/firewire, no need to change. If networks expect me to start 'paying' for my ability to archive a show (which has been discussed as a feature), no way. With PVR's, the cat's out of the bag. If I have to upscale SD to continue to enjoy Sage (and TV, for that matter) then so be it. -PGPfan |
