Using 3rd Tuner problems with conflict dialogue
I've just intalled a plextor M402U to bring my tuner numbers up to 3. My other tuners are a nova-t (currently using it with SBDA Recorder) and pvr-150. I'm using 4.1.7 and have a problem when I'm already recording two programs and select a third to watch "live tv". The conflicts dialogue appears as if the plextor is not there, but even so it will let me use it.
So if I'm recording something through the SBDA Recorder and go to watch another channel than no problem, the next channel uses the pvr-150. If I press record on that channel and then select another channel the recording conflict options screen comes up (i.e. choose "do not watch" or "cancel the other recording") even though the plextor is available. The odd thing though is that if I select "do not watch" sage will switch to the new channel and still record the other two channels. In a nutshell, it looks like its behaving as I'd expect (i.e. I can record on three tuners at once) except for the conflicts dialogue box appearing. Having said that, i'm not sure how it will treat conflicts in my absence ... Anyone have any ideas? I've tried creating a seperate channel listing for this tuner but it didn't help. edit: I thought I'd found my problem, but nope, still got it Last edited by Alfiegerner; 02-22-2006 at 04:59 PM. |

Did you set any encoder merit properties at some point in the past? It sounds like the new tunrer has a defualt merit of 0 & the others are higher.

yup - the SBDA Recorder has encoder_merit=10, the pvr-150 =7 and the plextor =4.

That's a side effect of using that merit property & it comes up every so often on the forum.

Ah okay, thanks for that.
Is there a work around for this? I'll try playing aournd with the encoder merit settings tonight. The problem is that my SBDA Recorder doesn't get as many channels as the other two tuners so I need to set that at a higher merit. |

I have the same problem with only two tuners - although the other one should be available, I get the channel change warning off and on ...
I reported this to support, and they were able to confirm this as a bug after I sent them log files. They said it will be fixed in a "future" release but couldn't give any date, because the merit setting is not officially supported ... Dirk |

I've just changed my encoder_merit numbers and found it works fine now. Before, they were set to 10, 7 and 4 and I was getting the problem. I changed the three tuners to 30, 15 and 1 and am not getting the pop up any more. Very mysterious. Fingers crossed this fixes it.
