Using SageTV with a cable box

Is there a way to make SageTV tune independantly when the signal comes from a cable box? Before I had a splitter with one line going to my television and one going to my Hauppauge 150. That way I could record a different channel with Sage and watch something else on my television. Now, SageTV only tunes in whatever I have on the cable box, so this means I have to watch whatever I want to record. I'm using an S-video cable from my cable box to my Hauppauge. Any help would be much appreciated!

If you are recording the output from a converter box, there is no way to tune to something other than what the box is currently tuned to -- the box only decodes & outputs one channel at a time.

The capture card can do the tuning for a direct analog coax connection, because the coax is carrying all the channels.
