LG LRM-519

Has anyone checked this out? I wonder how difficult it would be to be able to hack it and install Windows, then Sage or the Linux version of Sage. Looks liek they sell for about $300 or so on eBay.

Looks interesting. Any idea what hardware is inside? All I've been reading is "cpu more like that of a PC" but that doesn't help with determining if it'd be possible to put Sage on it.

I'm not sure myself and have been looking around online but can't really find any specs on what's inside. I am shocked that more people haven't looked into this yet either because it looks like it has been out since last fall.

Well out of the box it's probably not worth it. Basically the same PVR functions as MCE but they charge $10/mo. If it can be modded then it may be pretty cool. I'd assume that it's running Windows XPE or Windows CE.

Well they actually don't charge any more but for $600 it's a bit pricy still unless it has some good hardware inside.

Yeah, it's the hardware inside that is key. If it's running WinCE it's probably not going to be do-able, if it is XPE that is a whole different story . With XPE, I 'should' be able to get Sage to work on the beasty assuming that whatever tuner it is using is supported by Sage.

Does anyone want to donate one to the cause?

Based on what I see in the manual it does 480i/480p output so not going to do HD .ts files. And it only has a maximum SVideo in and Antenna is channels 1-135 so no OTA HDTV by coax either. Think I'd rather use a Buffalo Link Theater mod as a client - its cheaper.

BobP.

P.S. to get manual enter the following on the above web page:
Select Product Support (top menu) then Owners manuals (left side menu) and fill in:
Product Group: DVD&VIDEO&SET TOP
Product: DVD&VIDEO&SET TOP
Language: All English
Model No.: LRM-519

Edit: fixed broken link - sorry about that.
