Custom commands

I am currently working on putting together an instant replay function that backs up a set number of seconds, then plays at 1/2 speed. I currently have it linked to a listener for "custom1".

I know other stvi's use other custom numbers like nielm's comskip uses #4 and #5. My concern is that I don't want to create any conficts with any other stvi's that anyone might be using when I post the import. Would it be possible to let us create custom command names instead of just using custom1-5?

If you are asking if you can add a new command to the list of commands: I don't believe so, since that is in the core.

I don't know if someone else has allowed customizing which command is used for some feature, but if they have, perhaps their idea is better than mine... maybe you could give the listener some unique name, then have a customization dialog where the user could select which command to assign to that function. Then, you could search for the listener & change its "ListenerEvent" to the chosen command. Of course, that means you would have to save the xml file in order to retain the change. (Warning: I haven't tried doing this.)

Sorry Andy, It's late and I didn't explain myself well. I know that the commands list is a core function, it was kind of a question to see if it could be implemented in future releases. The other thing was that I wanted to check to make sure nothing that a lot of people are using for an stvi is using custom1
