Please help with network encoder
Greetings,
I know this is basic stuff but nomatter what I try I cannot get it to work and using networkencoding would be a huge improvement for my system. I have tried many different methods of setting up a network encoder but none seem to work. This setup is a shot at auto discovery. That is not to say that I have also tried copying the encoder code in as well. I have included the properties and debug files from my setup. I know it is probably something simple I can see the units talking I think this is the root of the problem: Wed 3/8 2:24:39.269 Added server info:donl,V4.1.0,static-host.SME Wed 3/8 2:25:09.143 Error discovering servers:java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Receive timed out Wed 3/8 2:25:10.080 ERROR in network encoder server discovery of: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect But I have no idea what I need to do to fix it The fire walls are turned off between the systems Thanks Don |

Depending on what all you've tried... have you tried starting with fresh properties files, in case some older settings are getting in the way?
And, you are setting the properties from this post? I'm not sure which property file is which above, so make sure you are setting the properties appropriate for each PC. You have separate licenses for each SageTV installation? SageTV won't talk to its identical twin if they are using the same license. (I also moved it to the beta forum, since that is the version you are using.) - Andy

got encoders to work and have been experimenting
Greetings,
ethereal was helpful.... I am fortunate I have multiple PC's I was able to take two PC's and isolate them peer to peer and do fesh installs of sage on them. so far I have tried 3 encoders. all of them auto discovered however only one of them worked. All of the encoders came up on port 6969. I tried turning auo discovery off and adding additional ports it did not help. USB Vbox VB35xx ATSC USB Plextor 402U PCI attached winfast expert 2000 Only the expert 2000 worked part although it seemed to be a bit on the shakey side. Do any USB encoder's work as network encoders? I have an Hpeg MCE500, Hpeg 350 and an USB Adaptec encoders has anyone tried any of these enoders as network encoders. Will auto discovery work for multiple encoders? Both of the PC's where shuttles. The server was running MCE XP and encoder was running XP. Thanks Don |
