A Few Questions..

I just purchased my key after extensive testing.. I have to say that I think SageTV is way ahead of anything else out there. Dont be fooled by "slick" interfaces that have nothing to do with the functionality or usability of the system. I tried all the major systems and Sage was the only one that worked "out of the box" without significant missing features or drawbacks.
I have noticed a few wierd things that may just be due to something I have missed "

1. Sage seems to record things I have not selected...constantly! I fills up my 100gb HD in a couple days, I do not have intelligent recording on, in fact I toggled it just in case it was stuck somehow. I think it is mostly recording whatever the TV is tuned to. I could easily set up some batch process to delete these I guess, allthough I'm not sure how to exclude the shows I wanted to record.

2. The IRL-200 responds very slow to channel change commands.. not a big thing, and may have nothing to do with the SageTV software, but maybe someone has figured out how to speed it up, I know its not a limitation of the hardware because my old replay system uses the same setup but changes channels instantly.

3. After alot of experimentation I have a pretty decent TV picture with what I would consider acceptable color quality, but not great color quality ( this was present with all the packages I tested) If I have straight Satelite comming in on one TV input and SageTv on the other, I can tell a difference in the "Vividness ??" of the colors. I have tried every setting imaginable but I would estimate the best I get is about 85% the color quality of regular TV.
I have wondered if a signal booster from the video card would help. I am using a Radeon 9200 with 64mb Svideo out. I also have a 9000 with 128mb that I tried just to see if a better card would make a difference.

Thanks in Advance!

1. This is how Sage works. This has been asked many times this week alone . Don't worry though, I asked too when I first got it. Sage will record whatever channel you leave it on. These shows will be added to the guide but set to watched. They will be deleted as necessary and will never keep a favorite or manual recording from occuring. If you want to avoid this (just to keep your sage recording list minimal) you can put Sage in Sleep mode. It will not record last TV channel then.

BTW, turn on Intelligent Recording . I grew to love it. It will get better the more you use it and the recordings it makes are low priority. They will be deleted if necessary for favorites and manual recordings. So it realy doesn't hurt anything.

3. There are registry settings you can use to adjust the sharpness/brightnes of the picture posted thoughout the forum. You may want to consider trying this as well for ultimate video quality....

Good luck!

That makes sense! Replay does the same thing only it does it invisibly, You can "go backwards" to the limit of your hard drive, that did not occur to me before!
