Can we get official roadmap on jukebox future?

Hi, just curious as to why nothing has been done regarding the poor music player incorporated into sage. The sage team is obviously aware it is substandard and to call and advertize sagetv a 'media center' with such a lackluster music section is in poor taste. Heck, its practially a joke around here. I have seen numerous posts regarding the music players lack of functionality crop up lately but never addressed. So, can we can an offical word/any word on what the plans are to improve this? If there are none in the immediate future--fine, just let us know that placeshifter support (while very cool) and other things are top priority...
Thanks
JUC

mods: thanks

On a related note:

SageMC with the winamp plugin works great for mp3's, however when i go to an album, then select view music by artist (or something like that), and then view by album its blank.

Also in Sage (with or w/o SageMC), editing your music collection then rescanning it leaves deleted files!! WTF is with that.

I love SageMC except its useless with the placeshifter, u really need a remote to navigate it... can anyone (like the creator) please add at least a back button?

Also, Id REALLY like to KNOW if Sage will ever support MPEG-4 AVC playback. Right now im holding back on encoding my DVD's (yes i know i can use an external playback plugin but thats a half-assed solution).

About all I will say is that the jukebox will be improved in the near future; we just haven't gotten there yet. ... but don't ask me when 'near' is.

Yes, I would just LOVE to see a new and improved jukebox in SageTV!!! I totally enjoy using sagetv software, but everytime I have to use the jukebox, it makes me whince a little. I can wait, because I know Sage will make a nice upgrade!!!! But I hope the upgrade wont be too far in the future.

I havent tried the winamp plugin yet, I am still working on getting updated to a version of SageTV to support my mediaMVP's. So I can actually start using them.

One step at a time

But eventually every TV and computer in the house will be able to play Sagetv content.

I sure hope it'll support reading metadata from a lot more audio formats as well, like FLAC and APE. And that this will all get transcoded on the fly to extenders, etc... There is a lot of open source code that does this already, but having it integrated in Sage would make it a real media center!

Thanks,
mike

I have been using the Winamp plug-in, and it works pretty well. The main thing I like is using the Winamp visualizations...

I just hope it will read all the metadata properly from the WMA that it is supposed to already support. Let me make use of the Album Artist tag as well as the Artist tag. Please!

I hope the "near" future means sometime this spring.

I really hope so too ...

For now, I have given up on the SageTV jukebox, and use Xlobby instead. I would prefer an all-in-one solution with Sage, but as it stands right now it's just not usable ...

Milkdrop looked awesome!, I agree. But I use FSE, so the winamp plug-in is a no go from what I've read.

Since 2.28, on every beta released, I quickly scan through the change log to see any STV interface improvements for music and pictures, and so far, nothing yet. With Studio released, I thought we would see some nice STV imports to fill the void, but STV developtments has not increase much even with Studio avalaible. I have no idea why. Many times, I want to open up Studio and attempt to learn it and build something myself, but I'm not sure I have what it takes to accomplish it. But since no one is doing it, I might have to learn it if I want better music and pictures interface.

Yeah, that sounds like me with the redbook audio CD support ... I don't give a rip about ripping besides, with native redbook audio support, I'm certain an enterprising community member could have ripping integrated in 5, maybe 6 minutes
