PlaceShifter Connection Refused
I am having a problem with the PlaceShifter getting its connection refused. When logging in through a local connection, I have no problem. If I connect using the locator ID or the routers IP address with my PVR in the DMZ, I get a "connect refused" JAVA message.
I know it is not my SAGE server, because I can log on locally, so it is either my router, but since I have my SAGE box in the DMZ, I don't see why this would be the problem. Is it possible that my internet provider has port 31099 denied? Any ideas? Thanks.. |

Does any one have any ideas on this one?

are you sure you are forwarding port 31099 on the router to the IP address of your SageTV server?

Well, it seems that there is a problem with my router/cable modem (Linksys WGC200) not allowing port forwarding or DMZ access. Linksys told me that my ISP should have a firmware update for it, but I have not been able to contact them yet. This seems kinda strange to me, but I will see where it takes me.
One other thing I noticed about the placeshifter (maybe new thread is needed) is that once I load placeshifter and run it locally on my network, my MediaMVPs will no longer function correctly; even after I close the placeshifter. They will simply boot up in their usual way, but instead of showing the Sage menu, I will only get a black screen. If I reboot my SageTV server, everything works correctly again, meaning the MVP's work again as they should. |

Cable modem is fixed and I have access to the placeshifter now...but the MVP black screen is still an issue.

I get a connection refused too. using port 443 because my job locks down big time. I know through a browser I have access to 443 because this was the port I used with Nielm webserver on the same PC. I think the problem is that I do not have the ability to have the placeshifter client to point to a specific proxy server so I can get access... locally it is fine. My friend can access my box from his cable modem... so much for my sage demo at my job to convert more of the masses!!!
