DTV serial cannot tune 'local' channels

Hi,

I've got Sage controlling a Sony A55 satbox for DirecTV with the built-in serial control.

I've found it cannot tune into channels 2-17 (local channels). When I select a program or type in one of the channels directly, Sage 'thinks' it has changed, but the satbox stays on the same channel it was previously on (and the satbox's channel changing pop-up doesn't appear in the corner). Tuning to any channels above this in Sage works fine.

Also if I manually change the channel to anything in the range 2-17 using the satbox's IR remote, the channel does tune in OK.

I noticed in the EPG the local channels (normally on 2-17), are duplicated in the area of 980, so I tried using these instead and disabling the lower channel range in Sage, but if you try to tune into these channel numbers on the satbox you get an invalid station error.

I'm not sure whether this is in fact a beta problem, as this is a new server and has only ever run recent betas. It's currently on 4.1.10.

Anyone else come across this problem? Is there a fix or workaround?

Regards,
Ben

local channel problems also

Ben, I have the same issue. I am using a serial connection to an RCA DSS Directv receiver (about 7 years old). My local channels are in the 960-975 range and I can only tune in 3 of them (961-963) using SageTV. I cannot get the higher channels to tune in using SageTV. I can tune them in via the Directv remote, so I know the channels work. I also was wondering if this was something someone else had seen and/or fixed.

I guess if no one responds to our posts, we should put in a tech support request...

Craig

didn't work

I should have said I'm running Sagetv version 4.1.3 so I think the installed dll is as good or better than the one in the link. Anyway, the one from that link didn't work. I had shut Sagetv down, replaced the dll and restarted Sagetv. I can change to 963, but whether I channel up or type the channel in directly, I still cannot get 964 or higher.

My next step is to try and get the IR Blaster to work. I've a feeling that may take a while since (amazing as this sounds) I can't find the IR reception port on the Directv box. I've covered the whole box trying to block reception and I can still use the remote to change channels... So much engineering and testing will follow.

Anyway, I'll try that sometime in the next month. And another other suggestions you may have...

Craig

ps sorry if this reply doesn't make much sense. I'm too tired to type legibly it appears..
