Comcast Digital Cable

Okay, so I got caught up at work and then went and bought a new house.....

I'm about to move in and I need to set up cable (for modem and TV).

I have Comcast Digital Cable in the area and was wondering how to go about getting my "never used" 2 PVR-250 system up and running.

I started to use it here at the apartment with "regular cable".. that's easy, btu what about "digital" cable.. and two PVR-250's?

Previously I just split the cable signal (boosted it) and sent it into both PVR cards.

I did a search for Comcast in the discussion board and didn't see anyone asking the same thing as I am.

Help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Troy

It depends on what you want Troy.

If you want both PVR tuners to be capable of recieving all your new "digital" cable stations, you'll need 2 cable boxes from your cable company and an actisys IR transmitter for the cable box control. Although, I think there's an issue with trying to control both simultaneously, but you'll need to do a search on the forums, as I can't remember the solution(s) people have come up with.

But the other easier way is to have one of the PVR's hooked up regularly, while the other is hooked up to your single cable box. You'll still get the analog cable (none of the extra channels that "digital" is capable of) and set each tuner up with the appropriate settings in the Setup Wizard according to the source you have it hooked up to. You'll still need the IR transmitter for the box control, and you'll not get all your "digital" channels on one of your tuners, but there won't be any confusion from having to control 2 cable boxes with the IR transmitter.

You can control two cable boxes by using SageRecorder and essentially setting up a network encoder on the same computer if you go that route.
