DISH Network (Guide info no data)

I was wondering if anyone else has issue with their DISH Network Receiver, and the Guide Info being empty, and then causing SageTV to not be able to change channels on the DISH Network receiver.

It seems to me what is happening is that after a few days of not using the Dish network receiver, that its Guide (which is only for 2 days I think) gets emptied out (everything says NO INFO) and you have to click on Guide button on the DISH Remote. AND THEN it takes a minute or two and the guide is all filled back in.

What I *THINK* happens to SageTV is that when it tries to change a channel when the Dish Reciever is in this state (of NO INFO) in the guide, that it cant change channels, or maybe its trying to change channels.

And if you are trying to Watch live TV and change channels from SageTV, it says something like "This is not a subscribed channel...blah blah blah contact your service provider to subscribe" And then you dont see any tv shows at all, until you refresh the guide.

And then after I use the DISH remote to update the guide this problem goes away. Then I can change channels just fine and see the tv shows. I swear this never used to happen, but then again maybe I just never noticed it.

I havent been able to figure out yet, if this is actually affecting my recordings (just havent had time) But it sure seems like something kind of wierd is going on here.

I mean, I have been watching some of the recorded shows and they are OK. But something about this situation just doesnt seem right to me.

And I just wondered if anyone has seen something like this happen to them?

I don't have SageTV installed yet, but as a subscriber to Dish I can confirm that these NO INFO occurrences happen very often. Now that you raised this issue, I'm kind of worried if it is going to affect SageTV's recordings.

Well unfortunately I cannot confirm that it has specifically effected my recordings yet. It almost seems like it just affects watching live TV, that is, trying to change channels while running SageTV and watching TV by selecting channels in the Program Guide.

Somehow I have a feeling that SageTV is still recording the shows. And I say that because so far I have never watched a "SageTV recording that was blank"...

I have recorded 600 or 700 shows now since November. And every show I have actually taken time to watch (even watching parts of them) have all been OK

I just thought I would post it here to see if anyone else has run into this problem. Maybe its only a problem in Live TV, but not problem when recording shows. That seems wierd to me, but I guess anything is possible.

I dont understand why DISH network receiver cant just keep its program guide up to date? Seems trivial considering everything they are already doing with the DISH network.
