Ideal Hardware for STV Linux?
So I have an Asus Pundit-R with ATI chipset, 512 RAM and Hauppauge PVR-150. After massive tweakage, SageTV for Windows actualy worked but the video was somewhat lossy and jerky so I don't use it anymore. Anyone have this kind of a setup? Well, I'd like to give SageTV Linux a shot but before plunking down the cash for it I want to know if it works well on this kind of hardware, if not then what's the ideal hardware? (video card, mobo, etc.) where the video looks flawless. If anyone's got a nice STV Linux setup they're real proud of I'd like to know the specs. Thanks in advance.

I think here's the key from the recommended specs on the web page:
Additional requirements for SageTV with media player (install mode 2): Intel P4 or AMD Athlon XP or faster processor Supported sound card Supported Geforce 4 MX or more recent NVIDIA graphic card ATI chipset (if that's your video) ain't going to make it. And if that's what you ran in Windows and the video is built into the mb no wonder your video sucked. Gerry

Yeah it's built-in ATI but I can play regular downloaded videos (mpg, avi, wmf, etc.) on TV and they look fine. It's when I use STV to record videos and then play them back the videos play somewhat jerky. Think maybe the Hauppauge PVR-150 card isn't upto snuff? And I wonder if with STV Linux I'd get the same jerky output.

Change the quality you're recording in. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your video. DirectX9 should be installed and also SP2. Plus you need a better decoder than what comes with it. nVidia Purevideo is a great one. The PVR-150 is a hardware encoder and would be one of the better cards to use with Sage. Search the other forums and post there for getting your Windows setup working better.
