Email and Internet browsing
Hello,
Is any module for SageTV out there which will read emails or/and navigate the Internet like the ones made for Meedio? Ex.1. http://www.meedio.com/maid/screensho...292DD}&start=0 Ex. 2 http://www.meedio.com/maid/screensho...D9FC9}&start=0 Thank you, Clement |

If you use gmail, you could use the RSS plugin for your email...
this would at least let you see what's in your inbox. Edit - Just found this option as well for any pop account |

There is not any that I am aware of but that is an excellant suggestion. At the bare minimum would be a internet browser since so much information (IMDB, News, Movie times, etc..) could be accessed this way without the need for specialized plugins to get the data. I have tried the Meedio plugin and it is VERY simple to use just don't know how easy it would be to implement.

It will be as an import... and once stable - I am sure easy to import into SageMC...
So people can comment on what they want... here is where I am going with this... First generation will be an email reader only... I am using the javaMail api to create the backend... therefore it SHOULD support: imap Store SSL:No StartTLS:Yes imaps Store SSL:Yes StartTLS:Yes pop3 Store SSL:No StartTLS:No pop3s Store SSL:Yes StartTLS:No smtp Transport SSL:No StartTLS:Yes smtps Transport SSL:Yes StartTLS:Yes I am testing the backend now only with imap. I will move to test others after the backend is stable... It most definitely will require java 1.5 it will provide optional popups for new email notification... and it will provide a generic email interface to browse email... it will likely just provide the first X (configurable) number of bytes in the message... like mobile email readers do... and will not support other mime parts like images and things... just the message body... Later - I may add email sending... just want to get the reader done first... Last edited by Bohica; 04-13-2006 at 10:20 AM. |

Oh - and it will support multiple email accounts at the same time. For instance, my wife and I would both like alerts to popup when we get new mail... I am trying to make this support X number of accounts at the same time...
