undesired artifact present on PBS' HD shows
My Standard Def recordings of a KPBS (PBS TV) broadcast in HD I guess (my TV is not HD), have the wide format on my 4:3 TV, black bars top and bottom. Well OK. But at the bottom left below the picture area, every show has a slowly flickering grey-white bar about 10% the width of the screen. Very distracting.
Anyone seen this? |

That's most likely the close-captioning information. If you adjust your Aspect Ratio on the horizontal to about 102% it most likely will move it off the screen.

isn't close captioning info in the vertical interval - so it would be at the top, rather than the bottom? And on my TV, it is just a small patch on the left, rather than across the entire screen for a line or to as I thought vert. interval data was. It extends for maybe 15% of the width, so that 102% adjustment wouldn't work?
Maybe some HD unique thing. |
