Duplicate recordings because of EPG data

I'm having a minor annoyance problem with the EPG data for sageTV and the news:
I have several favorites for local and national news broadcasts that show up on multiple tuners' lineups and since they don't have the normal episode number format or first-run/rerun flags in the EPG, I have 4 tuners recording the same exact show. On top of that, I have constant conflicts that really aren't conflicts because 3 other tuners are recording backup copies.
Has anyone else experienced this and how did you fix it?

First I didn't fix what I had unless just turning on debug_logging and leaving it on all the time is considered a fix.

But here is what happened to me.

I had the same episode of Stargate SG-1 recording on 3 analog tuners at the same time. But I only ended up with one final recording. Only reason I noticed it was I had a conflict with Stargate Atlantis where one shouldn't have existed. Haven't seen it occur again since then after I turned on debug_logging so that I could send SageTV meaningfull information. Been running that way for 2-3 months now with no problems. If you can recreate the problem please send them the logs as I haven't seen it again.

You should be able to work around the problem by using options in favorites to limit to news shows to a specific channel or times.
