Remotly Access Database...

Hello,

I don't know if this is in the correct spot or not...

I'm looking for a way to lookup information about the recorded shows in sage. Specifically, I just want to make a small program to sit in the systray of my other PC (sage is on a dedicated HTPC) and copy the files when recorded and rename them according to a format like [SHOW NAME] - [EPISODE NAME].mpg on my main PC.

Right now the program runs and works but is kinda lame, it looks for capital letters and so forth and changes something like TheSimpsonsBartLikesSageTV-484833.mpg to The Simpsons - Bart Likes Sage T V.mpg. It just looks for the file not to be in use anymore and then copies to the new filename across the network.

I was thinking if I could lookup the names in the database (wiz.bin?) I could pull the info from there. No idea how it's stored though, I assume by the number at the end of the recording... Can I use the Sage API to do so?

Anyone?

Nielm recently created a plugin that writes out XML files for each Sage Recording which contains all of the show information. He also updated the web server to return those same xml files on demand when queried. That might be a good way for you to get to that information.

Thread abou the plugin that exports the xml files:

Doc describing the xml format:

Sorry, I got very busy at work the last few days and haven't had time for this. I just installed the webserver and checked out the info returned. All I have to say is AWSOME. This is exactly what I was looking for... I don't know who is this Nielm guy is but he does good work. I've been looking at a few other plugins also. If your reading this [Nielm], thanks!

If I don't get too busy again I should be good to go in a few days!
