Where was this mentioned about not upgrading past 4.12? Didn't notice this in any of the release notes for the past two versions.

Go back and read the 4.1.13 release notes, it's there.
Sadly, wasn't in the 4.1.14 release notes, it's just in this thread. But after reading the 4.1.13 release notes, I wasn't going to install a new release until told it was good.

Go back to 4.1.12 if you want to use native Sage DVB-T. Or wait a couple of days.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This version does not correctly work with DVB-T. So if you've been using DVB-T with the betas, do NOT use this beta.
That's from the top of the release notes for .13...

Imported video problem with MVP?

Anyone having problems playing imported video with the MVP? I had the SAME problem on the server (using 4.1.3) then I upgraded to 4.1.12 and the problem went away! Then I installed the MVP - SAME problem. Following what worked for the server, I just upgraded to 4.1.14, and still no imported video on the MVP! Plays on the server just fine, but not the MVP. Sage's TV recordings play ok on the MVP, but not my imported videos.

Symptom: select video, screen goes black with no audio. Timebar seems to jump in increments of 30 seconds. Problem exists with all of my imported videos.

Help/ideas? All appreciated....

I guess it's down to interpretation. Didn't install 4.1.13, but took lack of warning in 4.1.12 as a good sign.
Glad I did though, after fixing the frequency file DVB-T is working perfectly.

If only I could play back the files to MVP then I'd be a happy camper.

What kind of imported video? MVP won't play ripped DVDs. It will play the individual .vobs but you have to choose them individually.

Gerry

They are edited SAGETV recordings (commercials removed). I use Nero v7 to edit the recorded videos. I had the SAME problem with the server application, but updating to .14 did the trick. To "eliminate" Nero as the culprit, I did the same test but with Adobe Premier Elements. Same problem.

What type of decoder does the MVP use? I am using the InterVideo decoder on the server. As an aside, if I use the Sage decoder on the server, the server locks the video after about 5 seconds, but the audio continues.

One test I'll try when I get home is to copy one of the unedited Sage recordings (which play on the MVP) directly into the video import directory and try playing that video.

Ideas?

--John

PS - if the consensus is that this is not a .14 beta problem, I can start a thread in the MVP discussion.

Have you tried using VideoRedo to rip the commericials out? It might be worth the the demo cert sign-up. I have one kids movie I did with it, and it still works fine on the latest MVP clients..

I use Videoredo all the time with great results. Sage sees the file as the original (ie not imported).

I think he means that he uses VideoReDo to edit out the commercials of existing Sage recordings, saves them back as the original filename/path and Sage recognizes them as the orignal recordings.

I'm experiencing a weird behavior with EPG/tuning.

Now that we can scan channels I picked up a 2nd NBC affiliate virtual mapped to 2-1. I also have a more local NBC at 5-1. If I am tuned to 2-1, I cannot tune to 5-1 until I have tuned to a completely different OTA channel first. It just stays on 2-1. It would seem more likely its just a coincidence that they are both NBC stations and maybe something to do with being the first channels in the guide or something else I have figured yet. But for the first time I think ever Sage missed a channel change for a favorite which was on 5-1. It recorded as if the channel had changed but it had not.

I'll try this when I get home. Although, my "out of market" channel gets no guide data. The call sign is there.

More weired tuning problems

Once with the 4.1.13 and now with the 4.1.14 I’ve experienced recording failure due to my channel lineup screwed up

The first time with ver. 4.1.13 suddenly all of my tv channels were out of tune. On one of my recordings it sounded like it had recorded part of a radio transmission. Red/pink screen. I solved the problem by reinstalling my xmltv lineup.

Yesterday with 4.1.14 suddenly the same problem, but now only those channels above channel number 100 were screwed. No picture or just noise and no sound. Al my channels with a lower number than 100 was showing up fine.

I did a reinstall of Sage, and after that a complete clean installation. Nothing. Checked with Win2000 to see if it was a hardware/driver problem. All channels with win200 showed up fine.

In the end I went back to version 4.1.12 and now everything works fine again.

So I think the problem is 04*1 works to change channels in the guide but not while in live tv. I tried it from HD to HD and SD to HD. No problems in guide.

I'll file a bug report in a bit. Kids calling me outside.

Okay, for live TV none of the channels below 10 could be changed, but channles 10 and over were no issues.. These are HD channels using sub-channels.

eg.. 04-1, 07-1, 09-1 don't work.
eg.. 11-1, 22-1, 26-1 do

Bug report filed.

Not quite sure what you mean but I think my issue is getting worse.

I marked the lowest # channel out of the guide (was my out of market) and now I can't tune to the new lowest channel no matter what I do. Just to be sure I wasn't having a local PSIP issue or something I found I can tune all these channels including the 'new' out of market with the AverTV app that comes with the card. Adding the removed channel back makes no difference.

EDIT: Whatever it is it's getting worse. After adding/subtracting channels and rebooting now there are a # of channels I just can't tune to. I'm wildly speculating that it may have something to do with adding/subtracting channels. 1) it seems to get worse every time I add/sub and 2) if I mark a channel in/out of the guide the change is not visible unless I restart the client and 3) the worsening 'state' survives a windows reboot so its being persisted somewhere.

Think I'll do a rescan and start over.

peace . . .

EDIT: After a rescan all seems well again. I don't know if this has anything to do with anything but looking at my .frq file in WORDPAD seems to show a C/R missing right before the first line of channel data.

MVP & 4.1.14

I just upgraded from 4.1.11 to 4.1.14. All in all...

However, my MVP seems to pause while watching a show every 8-10 minutes. Playback under 4.1.11 was flawless.

1) I have been upgrading by installing one update on top of the other, but have had problems in the past that were fixed by a complete uninstall, delete of extraneous files, reinstall. I suppose I can try that, but before going through the time of doing so, has anybody else experienced this sort of behavior?
2) I just upgraded Java at the same time from 1.5.0_04 to 1.5.0_06. That of any concern?

One other question...anybody else with two or more MVPs...
Have you ever started watching a show on one MVP, stopped it. Went to a room with another MVP to pick up where you left off and the entire show is marked as watched ... you lost your place?

SageClient uninstalles SageTV?!

I just went to install a copy of the RC SageClient on my server machine with an existing, and perfectly configured, SageTV install and the damn installer looks like it uninstalled all of my regular SageTV files

You guys might want to look into this one.
