Here's an update on where I am with this:
I've found fixes for some of the issues mentioned (blank screen on stop, current play position) but there are a couple of others that will probably have to wait for core fixes in SageTV V6.1. I've got a bug ticket open with the 6.1 beta team. Full integration with the V6 music browser is a bigger project than just bringing the existing functions back up, so I may not get to that right away.

OK, I've uploaded a new version (v1.4) that seems to work with SageTV v6.1. Click here for the download page. This may also work to some degree with SageTV v6.0, but there are some known issues that required core fixes in v6.1.
This version fixes all the issues I'm aware of (when used with SageTV v6.1). It still does not seamlessly integrate with the v6 music browser, but has its own Music CD menu accessible from Media Center > Play DVD or CD. I would not suggest using SageWMP v1.4 with SageTV v5 or earlier. I've left the previous version of SageWMP (v1.3) up for those people still using SageTV v5.

Fantastic! Hopefully I can get caught up later in the week to look at it for SageMC.

Will this work with DRM videos as well, or is it limited to music only? If it's only for music how hard would it be to make it work for DRM videos as well? and also the ability to open URL streams?

No, this STVI is for the stock STV. A few posts back Morgan111 was talking about trying to port it to SageMC but I don't know the status of that as I'm not a SageMC user myself.

I have looked a little at porting it to SageMC last week but had not progressed very far. But I will be getting back to it soon. I had previously worked on proting the previous version but ran into the issues with Sage v6. So I do have something to start from.

Does not detect CD?
New SageTV user trying to get WMP to work so my Lady can play her collection of CDs without me having to rip them all!
- Installed per instructions - DVD / CD menu item appears - DVDs are detected - CDs are NOT detected. It just says the CD is not present. The CD and DVD are the same drive device. - SageTV now locks up upon exit about 3 out of 4 times. Removing WMP (by restoring SageTV backup I made, Or manually deleting files and editing properties file) fixes the shutdown problem. - The properties file looks good with parser and cda defined Configured and ran in server/client (same machine) and just normal mode. No difference. I enabled debug but I am not sure where the debug file goes! Plus it locked upon exit. The CDs play fine in Windows Media Player 11. System: Newly built XP Pro system specifically for SageTV. Running SageTV 6.1_9 retail. XP fully patched, latest Java (although SageTV stock Java exhibited same problem). If there is anything I can provide to help diagnose this I would be happy to. Not as familiar with Java/Windows being a Linux/Perl coder myself. Robb |

Debug logs appear in your Program Files\SageTV\SageTV folder as sagetv_0.txt, sagetv_1.txt, etc. In client/server mode you'll also have sageclient_0.txt, etc. for the client component.
Could you post the relevant sections of your properties file(s) so I can verify that it's configured correctly? Also, which entries are you editing to fix the lockup problem? Have you configured Windows to do nothing when a disc is inserted, or is it still trying to pop up a "what do you want to do" dialog?

Attached to this message are my log and property files.
I have not traced the lockup problem to any specific setting. I just remove the WMP added entries and restore the media_player_plugin_class settings to their original values. I will try to do that after lunch. I deactivated AutoPlay but no change. Ejecting and re-inserting the CD results in no change. A different CD doesn't help either. The exact message I get when there is a CD (music) in the drive is: Please insert a music CD. Thanks again for your help |

You have a couple of misconfigured entries in your Sage.properties.
mediafile_metadata_parser_plugins= should be mediafile_metadata_parser_plugins=SageWMP.Parser and seeker/music_library_import_filename_extensions=.mp3,.wav,.wma,.aac,.m4a,.flac,.ogg,.ac3 should be seeker/music_library_import_filename_extensions=.mp3,.wav,.wma,.aac,.m4a,.flac,.ogg,.ac3,.cda Also the log file you included is not the right one. The debug logs again are called sagetv_0.txt, sageclient_0.txt, etc. To create those logs you must enable debug logging globally in Sage by setting debug_logging=TRUE in Sage.properties and/or SageClient.properties. For detailed SageWMP diagnostics, you can also set SageWMP/debug=true but this will have no visible effect if debug_logging is not enabled.

'debug_logging=True' is the trick. Somehow I missed that.
I made the changes to sage.properties and still no change. The logs are now active and I am sending them along with the new properties. Here is how I start SageTV: - SageTV service start (using via service control panel) - SageTV icon (client) I have also tried running just the SageTV icon but that was NOT done for the logs attached. I did notice some Java exceptions in the log checking AlbumID. From what I can see it looks like it tries, fails, and issues the NO CD message. Thank you very much for the help, it is appreciated. If its any use I did the install automatically (import STVI). |

Well, it looks like I forgot to include a couple of necessary files in the most recent zip. People upgrading from earlier versions wouldn't have noticed because they already have the missing files, so only new users like you would be affected. I've uploaded a new zip with the missing files. Try it again and see if it works any better.
Sorry about that.

Closer...
The latest zip helped a lot!
Still having some issues: 1. Normal mode (not client/server) -- After playing a CD (or during) closing SageTV results in the log being filled with the following (forever as far as I can tell). The audio continues to play if it was playing at close attempt. Thu 5/24 11:52:15.208 AWTThread Hang Detected - hang time = 450 ... Thu 5/24 11:52:22.044 AWTThread Hang Detected - hang time = 11336 2. Client/server, if there is no media in the drive the client locks. The last messages in the log are (which all seem reasonable). Thu 5/24 11:57:59.945 VideoFrame.watch(FA[BAD AIRING]) Thu 5/24 11:57:59.945 watchThisFile=MediaFile[id=39 FA[BAD AIRING] host=c-tv encodedBy= format=null] Thu 5/24 11:57:59.967 BAD WATCH Selected watch failed file verification. Update
I did a reboot and things seem much better now. I really dislike the "magical reboot" of Windows, does not give me a lot of confidence.
If I can get it to fail I will post another report. Thanks very much for this customization. It repairs a glaring omission in a media center system. Your work is really appreciated as is your support. |

Does it work with Sage 6.2?
Hi. I have Sage 6.2.x installed, and I followed the installation guide of SageWMP to use it for playing cd. The sage.properties are checked OK, but the menu has not changed. It says "Play DVD" and not "Play CD or DVD", as the guide says it should. Is there a problem with Sage 6.2? If so, are there plans for support for 6.2 users?
