Roku Photobridge Client/Extender?
I did a bit of searching and didn't see any info, so sorry if it has been discussed already. Has there been any work on or discussion of a sage client or making the roku photobridge a sage extender? Photobridge is open source and a great hd player. I have 3 much prefer them for playback of recorded sd/hd.
Anyone? Darin

Roku HD A search on "Roku" brings up quite a few threads. It's been talked about before. No visible work has been done on it. Gerry

The Buffalo Technologies Link Theater device looks very yummy. It plays back VOBs across the network and has a local DVD player. I think SageTV better get on board with this device, it beats the MVP hands down. Yeah, it's more expensive, but what can you about the ability to upgrade to HDTV. Let's see MVP do that for $99. Plus, you can hack the firmware and the software.

I am surprised that there hasn't been a client or some sort of solution for a set top box/client that is capable of hd. It would seem the roku would be a good option. It handles HD very well, in particular when using MPlay as the video player you get ff/rew. Hopefully not too much more time will go by before sage will have an HD option like the do with the mvp for sd. Hopefully soon.

Hi,
An HD capable thin client is at the top of my wishlist. I guess I am in the minority on this as it seems placeshifting (of no use to me) is a much bigger priority to most folks. I keep holding out hope that either sage or one of the talented users on this forum will come up with something. I too think the roku would be a great choice. Jesse |

although it appears placeshifting is high on sage's list I would be surprised if members on this forum thought it deserved more attention than a HD extender. I certainly hope sage realizes this. Here's hoping for a Q3 release of an HD extender.

I imagine the developers would like to get the bugs worked out of the MVP before adding support for another extender. I'm no programmer, but I'd think that some of the architecture used for the MVP could be applied to an HD extender as well.

Hmmmm.... maybe placeshifter is the answer... is there a way to run the placeshifter in full screen on the Roku? People are talking about running it on PDAs and phones, why not the Roku? Or any other HD capable embedded linux box (Toshiba HDA1)???

In the very early days someone was supposedly going to attempt it (a 3rd party company, not end user) but it never went anywhere.
