Placeshifter auto UPnP config problem

I am trying to use the auto UPnP config, so that I can use Placeshifter. I have a Netgear MR814v2 wireless router. I connected to the router and turned on UPnP. I also updated the firmware for the router. When I go to configure Placeshifter connection it recognizes that I have the UPnP turned on, but when I click on the auto UPnP config button the program does not complete the task. I do not get an error message. The rotating SageTV logo just remains on the screen. I have let it run like this for hours.

I have also tried to set the router up manually using port forwarding (TCP 31099), but when I try to test the connection in SageTV it says that the locator server could not access the Placeshifter server's port.

I searched through the forum threads and could not find any similar problems. I think that I am probably overlooking a simple step with my router set up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Submit a bug report on this and we'll help you out http://sagetv.com/bugs.html . This is the first I've heard of it hanging like this when doing the UPnP setup.

Not sure but you may want to double-check and see if you have UPnP installed on your PC. The reason I say this is because if you do add this (It's a Windows component)thru add/remove programs-add/remove windows compnents-networking services-UPnP User interface, it also opens the ports on Windows Firewall to allow UPnP this thru.

The hang is fixed for the next version. But it means you've probably got other UPnP issues....maybe firewall related. We never heard the final result back from the user who submitted the bug report after the hang was resolved and we said it was probably firewall settings on his router.

I also have a similar problem running SageTV 5.0.2 + PlaceShifter with my NetGear DG834G router.

Basically what happens is that when I try to configure PS thru uPnP most of the times it fails even if uPnP is active either on the router or on the XP box.

Sometimes if works (I cannot reproduce how I could have had it to work, I think disabling and re-enabling uPnP on the router), but then suddendly it looses the configuration and stops working. Even if I manually configure port forwarding (with minor limitations because it looks like you cannot have port mapping on this kind of router, only port forwarding - unless you use uPnP), the built in PS test fails.

Internally (on the LAN) PS works fine (of course, it's not going through the router).

Anyone else with my setup? Any idea? Thanks

I think I'm having the same problem (not hanging, but the Test always fails after the software thinks it confingured it fine). Is there any wiki on how to get through this.

I had a similar problem. I rectified it by turning uPNP support off on my router and then turning it back on again. I am running Sattoria Alchemy software on my Linsys router.
