Disappearing recording directories...

Not sure which forum area would be best, so I will start this here. I've been running into issues where my HTPC and Sage would lose all track of recording directories. I was initally pushing all recordings to a recording server, over Gig-E. Then I starting having freezes and lockups, after which I could get back to the Sage menus, and the disk space bar would indicate "0 drive space" for recording. After about 1 minute, the recording directories would return, and I could resume watching shows. Initially I wrote this off as problems with the network.

So to fix that, I added a few drives to the Sage machine, and wrote the recordings locally, although recording directories in Sage are still setup as UNC names and paths. Then tonight, it happened again! So I am wondering, even though I am using a UNC path to a locally shared drive, can I rule out network issues? I have checked the event log in XP and there are no issues, no notifications of network problems or drive problems.

I'm about to restart the Sage server with logging enabled to see if anything comes up in that. But Im curious to know if this has happened to anyone else, or is it a known bug somewhere that I didnt know of?

Try configuring at least 1 recording dir as a straight local path. I'm guessing that since you are using the local dirs as UNC paths, it is still a network issue & SageTV loses access to those paths at least temporarily at times.

Ok, made the changes to record to actual hard drives ("E:\" and "F:\") and will see if I get this issue anymore. If its a network issue, I'm baffled as to what it could be. When this issue occurs I can still VNC into the Sage server, so the physical network connection is working.
