Question Updated DirecTV Serial Control - TRY ME!

We built an updated version of the DirecTV Serial Control DLL for SageTV and wanted to get feedback from all of you on it since there's a wide variety of DirecTV receivers out there and we can't test them all ourself.

So if you're using the DirecTV Serial Control in SageTV (or you used to use it and it didn't work); then please give this a try and post your result in the poll. Thanks!

I think this should be 2.2 compatible. I don't think that interface has changed in a long time.

Tried it

I stand corrected, the new one doesn't tune 400 or 500 series channels

I had to reload my old one

I have an RCA DRD485RG (one of the newer command sets)

Nothing really new for functionality....it's just supposed to change the channel. But it should work on more receivers now (all I'd hope) without any registry edits or other modifications.

Would you expect this to work on a Motorola DCT 2244? Do I need any plugins or anything additional, or is this all I need? Thanks

Here is a little feature request. How about USB control of cable boxes with USB ports on them. My SA digital cable box has a USB port and when I plug a USB keyboard into it I can punch numbers on the keyboard to control channel changes.

I think they want you to try it and tell THEM if it works.

This DLL should also work with USB-control of DirecTV receivers using a USB-serial converter. This we have tested already.

I'm not sure if you were replying to my feature request. So could this work with a cable box that has a USB port on it too? I'll give it a shot but I believe I'll probably need a gender changer for the serial end of the USB-Serial adapter to plug into the serial port of the PC.

EDIT: After rereading your post are you saying to use the USB to serial the normal way for a computer that doesn't have serial ports?

DirecTV boxes, which ones?

A little off subject, but...

I am moving to a new house, looking at Dish and DirecTV. I have read that some of the newer DirecTV boxes will not work with serial tuning etc.

Is there a list of what boxes work with direcTV? Dish?

Thanks in advance.

What has been changed in this command set? Will it send a hypen ("-") command for ATSC subchannels? Will it support multiple-input sources?

I am assuming this is the same .dll in 5.0.3

I had to swap back to the old library because this one keeps sending something that makes the guide pop up on the screen. Not sure if its just at reboot or at a channel change, etc.

This partucular D* box is an older one, Sony SAT B3, I think its a 2nd gen. Beforehand it was working perfectly. At the time I had some people drop by and I didn't have time to isolate the problem but LMK if I can provide more info.

peace . . .

The new dll which I'm assuming is in the 5.04 release doesn't work for me. It almost works, when I change the channel I see the command get sent to the bo but there's no enter key following the input of the nubmers so the channel never changes. So I went back to 5.02 serial control dll and all is fine.
