I'm trying out SageTV for the first time and I would like to use this control application to chang the channels on my HTL-HD receiver.
Their is no DirecTVSerialControl.dll file in the Common folder like the source details specify. Do I just need to copy this file into the Common folder or is there a way to point it to the right place in the setup? Thanks! |

I did notice that when I installed Sage the .dll is in the SageTV directory, however channel changing does not work via this utility. I will try the older version posted. |

Ensuring that Mediaportal still works with serial control as well as dtvcontrol.com's utilty, I have verifyed that both still work.

How about serial control now for the Linux version? Anxiously awaiting news on that front.

Apparently, from personal frustration, and reading way too many posts, the DirecTVSerialControl.dll GOES INTO:
C:/Program Files/SageTV/SageTV/ NOT what the 'control' information displays for the source setup. The makers of Sage need to fix this obvious blunder, as it is obviously making many people confused. Me included. Also, the latest DLL that is in 6.0.19 (whatever version the dll is... couldn't hurt to add that to properties, thanks), does not send a proper 'enter' for D11-100 boxes. Instead it throws channel numbers into the string, and if you dont wait until everything is done and tuned before changing the channel again... you get complete garbage and usually an invalid channel number. Also, I, and a few others, have been having serious issues with 'locked up' serial ports and the sage. Dont know if its this dll thats breaking the port, of it is another driver conflicting, or if its some other unknown. All I do know, is nothing else uses COM ports on my machine, and getting this thing to work has been the worst experience in my life. |

A Few questions:
I have a D10-100 box. All was fine until V6. IncredibleHat, did you get it to work by installing an older version? What should I do? 1. Where do I get the older version? 2. I could not figure out what the version number is. The date is 12/28/06. 3. Do I need to only install this on the file server? Do I just stop sageservice, copy the old dll in there and then start it up again or do I also need to register it or anything else? 4. Can I continue to use V6 with an older serial control? This problem is really a nightmare. Thanks, Mike Last edited by mike1961; 02-02-2007 at 07:03 PM. |

2: They dont have versions numbers... I think the coder of them overlooked that very vital and helpful piece of properties information. 3: You only need to install it on the 'machine' that has the serial cables linked to it. And you install it into the C:/Program Files/SageTV/SageTV/ folder, NOT the common folder (like the video source setup screen shows). This is a confusing one. However just to be on the safe side, I put it in BOTH places lol! 4: Yes you can, I am and so is naln too. It seems to work far better (thus far). |

Yep, the older dll works far better....and IncredibleHat is right- the lil piece of information on the version or release date of the dll would help a great deal.
I think the dll is dated 5/1/06....seems to work pretty well so far...and using it for almost a week now....had unrelated issues with sage6..but serial control has been good so far. And its fast- no more waiting forever for the channel to change...... |

I have to add that I have gone back as well. My symptoms were very slow changes (4-5 seconds) and unreliable changes (about 5% wouldn't change channel). Since I reformated the system, I thought a new driver was responsible, but since I went back to the 5/1/2006 version, everything has been fine. I don't see the on screen dispay anymore (from DirecTV) or any lag. It was a excellent move. Thanks Hector!

I have a DirecTV D11-100 receiver with a Patersontech USB TV Translator, and I cannot get SageTV to control my box AT ALL. I can control it fine via dtvcon, but really have no idea, even after reading through this thread, what i'm supposed to do. I tried placing the older DirecTVSerialControl.dll in the Program Files\SageTV\SageTV and still nothing. Maybe i'm missing something obvious, but I cannot get it to work with either dll.
Are there any configurations changes I need to make on the tv translator adapter to get this functioning? Last edited by ydoucare; 02-13-2007 at 03:23 PM. |

I got it....for some reason my dtv box was locked, it wouldn't accept any commands even from the dtv remote. Just rebooted it and now it's good. Thanks for the quick response.

Does anybody know if the version of the .dll in 6.1.3 is working or should I revert to the 5/1/06 .dll after installing the new release candidate?
