New MVP not working
I have been trying to get my new MVP from sage to work for the last three days...Please help!
Im running a p4, 512 mb, xp pro server in my garage. Sage ver 5.02.90 MVP 2.04 server enabeled and running extender enabeled sage works fine on the local computer Placeshifter works fine with new extender licences recieved with MVP router set up to apply fixed ip according to hardware address no firewalls or anti virus (all disabled) I need to set up a fixed IP, in the sage.properties file I added: miniserver/clients=MVP/00\:0D\:FE\:0B\:11\:7A/192.168.1.24 miniserver/gateway=192.168.1.1 (The address of the network router) I have port forwaded the epg stuff(7760) and have variously forwared the other ports (UDP:16867 (for booting the MVP)16869 (for booting the MVP)31100 (for discovering the SageTV server after boot)TCP:31099 in the router but with no firewall I don't think I need to do this. What happens is the MVP screen comes up and the 5 bars proceed. messages: configuring wired device checking network status very fast a message appears: THe MVP is connected to the previously saved wireless access point but is unable to obtain IP address scanning... no streaming server found. I have deleted the client subfolder, no change, and loaded the 5.02.90 software after removing the previous sage software thru add/remove. Any help would be appreciated. |

You only need to forward a port for the placeshifter connection; all those other ports only have to be dealt with if you have a software firewall running on your SageTV server PC. I don't know if this coudl cause problems for the MVP connection, though.
Have you tried with DHCP instead of a static IP address? And, no other MVP software is running, right? - Andy

Correct - no other MVP software is running.
I did try setting up another router in DHCP mode with just the sage server and the MVP, I also changed the network tcp/ip setting on the server for DHCP but still no luck |

Are you using a wireless MVP? You'll need to set it to wired mode, the wireless MVP is not supported yet (but will be soon).

I got it to work!
I re-setup the other router with DHCP and removed those two lines in the sage.properties file and it moved on to booting and works fine. So I take it that the new MVP won't work with the fixed ip work around. I'd still be interested in running a cross over cable to a second nic in the server. thanks for the responses. |
