SageTV Client problems accessing content - external hard drives

SageTV client appears to have problems accessing video content residing on USB external hard drives attached to the server machine. I have verified that those external drives are accessible under Windows explorer so I don't believe this is an issue with sharing properties. The same SageTV client works fine with conent on the C: drive of the server machine. I have also verified that the external hard drive contents are not corrupted since SageTV running on the server displays those contents just fine.

The error I receive on the client when selecting content on the external hard drive of the server (via Imported Videos) is:
"There was a Playback Error in playback. Details: sage.PlaybackException: ERROR (-3,0x80070057): There was a problem accessing filesystem for playback."

Is this a limitation or bug? Any pointers would be appreciated.

Hmm, not sure about the external hard drive but I just got that problem again and read a few posts and was able to fix it by setting my Audio and Video renderers to DEFAULT in detailed setup, video/audio.

I have not used USB drives, I'm not sure if my experiences will be helpful.

I have seen that exact error several times when using network drives (drives on another machine) which I accessed via unc paths ("\\server\folder"). In each case the problem turned out to be permissions-related.

Are you by any chance running the SageTV service? If so, what user account is it running under? If it is the default account (System or some other built-in acct - can't remember), then there are some limitations accesssing remote drives iirc. But you can change the user and there then there are no limitations.
