home lan placeshifter problems.
I'm having trouble getting placeshifter to work smoothly (without transcoding) on my home lan. I realize its somewhat of a tall order to get it to work on wireless 54mb, but i had it running for quite a few days without problems. I took out a 256mb ram stick to use in another computer, and now its having trouble running without stuttering. Are others noticing this same type of problem where smoothness is dependant upon ram?
My server computer is an athlon xp 1700, with 768, which i just downgraded to 512. i'm not sure why this should make a difference... I can't really see any other variables that have changed, although I could be wrong. I don't have much else running on there right now. Remotely anywhere, antivirus. I might try bumping the cpu speed a bit, but if i'm not transcoding, I think that shouldn't matter. any ideas? thanks, |

512MB shouldn't be a problem. I only have 512 in my server, but mine is a P4 2.53. Placeshifter works fine for me on lan, wired, wireless, or internet. Only guess I have is to make sure you are using the same version of Placeshifter that's released with each Sagetv version. They update it each time.

its weird, i put the other 256mb back in and don't ever have those stuttering problems. It works fine with vlc and sage placeshifter now. Odd.
But, I'll just leave it in there, and pick up another stick for the other computer I guess. |
