I want to build a new machine

I'm looking for a FAQ, or such, for guidelines for building a PC/PVR.

I want to have additional options that what my current Time Warner digital with a DVR provides. I want to keep the capability to program and record more than one program at a time, burn to DVD's and play FPS PC games on this PC.

Is there something here on Sage,or another site, that would lay this all out? For example: I want to keep the cable box/DVR in the living room with the TV but in my home office hook up this new machine to the Time Warner cable modem - a Webstar, Scientific Atlanta, Model DPX2203 Series.

Thanks for the guidance.

Ookkkkaaayyyy.....Well what do you want it to do? Digital Cable? HDTV? SDTV only? Basic Cable? The cable modem doesn't matter, because that has nothing to do with your video recording. Other than needing some kind of connection to the internet, that is all that matters as far as Cable Modem/Modem/DSL, etc.
