Streaming video to PSP?
Hi all. Sony has released their LocationFree hardware and software for the PSP. The unit supposedly transcodes live TV and streams it via a wireless connection to the PSP. However, the hardware is almost $300 US!
Has anyone by chance attempted to reverse engineer the protocol Sony uses with a sniffer? I don't think it'd be that hard to take transcoded video and use a Java-based server tool on Sage to stream it to a PSP, wireless or not. Sony of course as usual hasn't released the format. I know it's a long shot, but this seems like the best place to ask. Thanks! -drin |

Having just picked up a PSP, it woudl be pretty cool to have something integrated with sage to allow this to work.
I also stumbled across these media servers that seemsto allow streaming to the PSP via the web browser. http://www.tversity.com/ http://psp.villainousmind.com/produc...px?id=17290624 Last edited by kpsmith; 06-16-2006 at 08:08 AM. |

Edit: OK, it wasn't transcoding. The package (called TVersity) only allows for streaming of RSS audio feeds, not video, so it isnt much use to Sage users, I suspect. I've tested this package, Locura. Unfortunately it doesn't stream video to the PSP - it downloads it for later playback. -drin Last edited by drin; 06-16-2006 at 08:39 PM. |
