USB-UIRT does not transmit with Sage 5.
A LOT OF INFORMATION HERE.
irHelper will learn a number code from the cable box controller. I can point the ir unit at the cable box and press "test transmit" The channel will change to that number. From this I know where to put the transmitter and the USB-UIRT works. Sage 5. shows a code when it learns from my cable box controller. Sage 5. will learn codes that control it. Sage 5. will do the comands when sent by my cable box controller. Sage 5. will not transmit from Sage 5. I've tried with timed record. I've tried with the play screen channel change. I've set a number key and the ir with the cable box controller. With the Sage 5. window active I've pressed that key. Source: Plextor ConvertX TV402U A/V Capture TV Tuner Channel 3 Functioning: true Network Encoder: false Currently Being Used for Live TV: false Input Type: TV Tuner (cable from my cable box) RF Channel: 3 Cable/Antenna: Cable Sage 5. shows the cable box setting TV show and records correctly NOTHING EVER HAPPENS WHEN I WANT SAGE 5. TO TRANSMIT. ALL I WANT IT TO DO IS CHANGE CHANNELS. |

I received an email from USB-UIRT that solved my problem.
Here is the text of the message. Albin, SageTV uses both the Transmit and Receive functions of the USB-UIRT. The receive functions of the USB-UIRT allow you to use a remote control you have lying around to control SageTV's functions. There is a screen in Sage where you set these commands up. I suspect that this is the screen you've been setting up. Sage also can TRANSMIT using the USB-UIRT, however, this is set up in an entirely different screen. When you set up your tuner source you can then pick the USB-UIRT as an IR Tuner, and then you are asked the brand of set-top-box you have. You can create a new profile and Sage will ask you to use your set-top-box remote to 'teach' sage each numeric digit of your set-top box, digits 1 through 9 and 0. Best Regards, Jon |

Instructions on how to do this are included in the Sage TV manual that is installed with the Sage TV program.
