How to get SageTV to release focus to NVDVD for remote
I'm using SageTV 5, NVDVD, and HIP with an MCE remote.
The remote works. That isn't my problem. SageTV works, that aint it either. So does NVDVD work... When I click the button I have assigned on the remote to "EXEC \path\NDVD -p NVDVD", it will launch NVDVD, and start playing the DVD I had/have inserted. THE PROBLEM IS that SageTV is still stealing focus somehow, and HIP still thinks I am within SageTV, and thus HIP is still making the remote act for SageTV, and NOT NVDVD. Which makes it impossible for me to control NVDVD with the remote at this point. The only work around I have come up with so far, is getting out the blastid keyboard, and sending SageTV into minimized/standby (which puts it away into the tray). THEN NVDVD gets the remote codes from HIP because SageTV is no longer stealing them. Does anyone know about this? Know what I may have done wrong with HIP, or SageTV? SageTV is NOT setup for Full Screen Exclusive mode. However SageTV does run in Full Screen when it is up front (so does NVDVD). The SageTV config for the remote in HIP has the "DVD Menu" button launch NVDVD. The NVDVD config for the remote in HIP has the "TVesque" buttons (Live TV, Guide, TV, Recorded Shows), set to launch SageTV and goto those specific menus/actions. That seems to work, except for trying to goto NVDVD from SageTV Help ? Please ? I am at wits end, and about to go nuts with frustration here. |

Unless HIP has some similar option, most times when something like this is mentioned, it turns out to be that TweakUI was previously set to prevent apps from stealing focus.

I had dealings with that a long time ago when SageTV would not LAUNCH to front, but would stay behind the taskbar, and upset me. It was due to the focus prevention stuff. So, all the focus prevention is OFF for me. Unless that is what you mean... that having it off, causes this problem... but if I turned it on, then I have to contend with the initial problems of SageTV never coming to the front on its own! Heheh... Oh cripes I dont know! This is really upsetting me why it doesnt work right |

The orange flashing thing is a result of Focus Prevention.
It is on by default in windows, and you NEED TweakUI to turn it OFF... sort of a silly thing ... I guess its some sort of 'security' feature, to prevent programs from jumping in front all the time. Pfft. |

Well, Andy was mentioning that its usually 'ON' in TweakUI, and that suggests that its on by default in windows.
See... TweakUI allows you to turn off, or adjust default variables in XP. Thats why they made it. It lets you tweak things, you normally cant find to tweak through normal means. TweakUI doesnt actually DO anything to the system, unless you change a variable inside tweakui from running the application. Installing it, doesn't go and adjust a bunch of stuff. Its a fairly safe install, but its a fairly dangerous application to go changing things with willynilly For instance, it allowed me to FINALLY shut off the damned "auto-run" of Intermedia Installers on DVD inserts! =) |
