Problem adding new Plextor PX-TV402U

I have been smacking my head against a wall trying to add this new tuner. Loaded up the drivers from the "Install CD" as the instructions said. I then updated those drivers with the latest/greatest from Plextor, and then connected the tuner to the system with a USB 2.0 connection. The computer itself sees the new device and associated the proper drivers to use. There are no hardware conflicts, warnings, or errors in the "device manager", the tuner is listed under the "Sound, video, and game controlers" section, and it is also in the "removable devices" list. Basically everything appears to be properly setup hardware wise.

Now, when I go into the SageTV->Setup->Setup Video Sources->Add New Source, the only sources listed are the two sources from my Hauppauge PVR-500MCE. The Plextor is not listed. I have also tried to run the full setup wizard as well to see if that made any difference, but no change there either.

Any ideas? I am running the latest version of SageTV as well.

You've restarted SageTV since installing the Plextor device, right? (I don't know if it needed a reboot; if not, I figure it might have been possible that SageTV wasn't restarted.)

Also, check sage.properties to make sure it isn't listed on the mmc/ignore_encoders line for some reason. If it is, delete the whole line while SageTV isn't running & restart.

Yes I restarted the SageTV service to see if that made a difference. I will try giving a reboot and I will let you know.

As for the mcc/ignore line, well here is what I have:

mmc/ignore_encoders=HDA Digital X-Mystique 7.1 Wave Device|HDA XPLOSION 7.1 DTS CONNECT Wave Device|MPU-401|BDA Slip De-Framer|

That did it I work too much with Unix and Linux systems anymore and keep on forgetting the be all end all fix for anything on Windows... reboot...

Thanks for the help, now to go get it to setup using the USB-UIRT to control my cable STB so I can record all the premium stations.

hehe... well, it found the device at least, now I need to figure out why I only get static for video when I use it (I have some audio, but it is a little weird, almost like it isn't fully decoding it). But the USB-UIRT works, since I can watch it change the channel on the STB...
