buying a TV tuner card ASAP - help please!

Ok, I'm getting a hauppauge WinTV-PVR-500MCE today.

Need to order VERY SOON.

question - do I want the card in the white box or should I get the bundle (with the included Media Center Remote.

The TV that this will be directly connected to won't be using a Media Extender. This included remote WILL work with SageTV, right?

thanks!!!

That remote (MCE) will NOT work with SageTV, out of the box, as far as I know.

If you want to use it with Sage, you'd need a USB-UIRT, and then program that remote to operate functions in Sage (it's the MCE receiver, that is not compatible with Sage, at least, it didn't used to be).

It's been so long since I've looked at remotes, I don't even know if Sage support a particular brand of remote, out of the box.

I'd go with the white box version. I'm not sure that the retail version comes with anything extra anyway, does it?

If the remote is the standard MS MCE Remote it will work with the latest version of Sage. Using it myself.

I think it actually more comfortable to use then the Hauppauge one.

I would buy the white box and buy the remote separately, cost $10 more or so, but its the better way to work with SageTV.

Picked up my first hardware encoder tuner card (500) today and installing it tonight.

should have my first (of many) media extenders delivered tomorrow.

Just need to get the cable installed and I'll be ready to go.
