Placeshifter & Fedora Core 5 (FC5)
I've been playing around with both Placeshifter and MythTV on FC5, the x86_64 version. I've gotten MythTV working great, but, well, to be blunt, it just isn't as pretty as Placeshifter. However, I can't seem to get Placeshift running. I've searched the forums and back in May there were posts regarding problems with the x86_64 version of FC5 not being supported. Are there any changes since then? The roadblock I'm hitting has to do with mplayer. The version shipped with Placeshifter doesn't recognize that my onboard NVidia 6150 has Xv support. I can install the mplayer RPM and that works fine (it detects XvMC). I've tried forcing Placeshifter to use the RPM mplayer, but I then get an error regarding an unknown parameter. SageTV has added their own extensions? Anywho, that's a bit of a long winded question/statement. Any info/help would be appreciated.
Thanks, David |

Out of luck
Since I've gotten no response, is it safe to assume I'm out of luck with FC5?

I'm guessing its less to do with FC5, but more to do with the fact its 64bit version. I had ubuntu 64bit installed but after running into too many roadblocks, such as no flash support, I gave up and installed the 32bit version instead. Also, performance wise, I didn't see any difference between 64bit and 32bit.
I've ran placeshifter in Ubuntu 32bit and it works. There's a UI flickering issue, but I haven't try to remedy it yet.
