Any way for Sage to save my volume level?

Since version 2.x on up through 5.x, on two different computers, Sage has had the annoying habit of forgetting the volume level when a new file runs, or when I pause a recording. If I set the volume lower, then pause, it automatically maxes out. This causes a lot of frantic lowering of the volume.

It is doubly worse since for some strange reason ALL my imported videos, Imported DVDs, or normally played DVDs have subdued volume, requiring me to turn things up on the speaker control. Which causes a lot of getting up and down to manually toggle the volume, since I can't risk leaving it up and having it reset to max while watching a recording.

This is the greatest bane to my TV watching experience. I'm not going to go out and buy a speaker set with remote just so I can bypass an annoying bug in Sage.

Volume works fine otherwise - it just resets to max on pause or new file.

No one else has this problem, or has everyone learned to live with it?

Rather disheartening, but I guess I'll go out and get some speakers with a remote.

I've been using Sage since 2.2.8 and I have never seen anything like this.

How do you change the volume (keyboard, remote)?

I've seen a few people mention having a similar problem, but they're in the minority. Have you tried reinstalling your sound drivers or contacting Sage for offical support?

Once after installing Sage, turning the volumn up past half way would mute the sound. After updating the sound drivers I didn't have any more problems.

It's normal for DVD volumn to be much lower than broadcast TV. It's the way they're recorded, technical explanations have been posted here in the past. You can use the AC3 filter to even it out a bit.

This is the second computer this has happened on. It happened on my previous server I scrapped.

Pretty sure all the drivers are up to date, but I'll review that later. I'm using onboard audio, but maybe there's something out there.
