Can't change channels in placeshifter

Have placeshifter running, it works .. .can access recordings and watch liveTV .. but only a single channel. Trying to change the channel results in an error -9:
All encoders are in use by clients watching "Live" TV ...

This is weird, cause the laptop running sagetv is at home and no one is home (no one even knows how to use Sage there anyway!)

What could be causing this?
