Setting Up Dual FusionHDTV 5 Cards In Sage

Well, here we go again. It seems like the only major problems I have with Sage, is when I try and add a tuner.

Just bought another FusionHDTV 5 RT Lite, to add to my FusionHDTV 5 Lite and PVR-500.

It took roughly forever to get the first FusionHDTV 5 working correctly.

Anyway, I've got the new RT card installed, and it appears to be working correctly inside of Windows, at least, as far as I can tell.

Currently, and before I messed with anything, this is what I had under my tuner setup.

The interesting thing is, when I go to add another Transport Stream tuner, a second entry in this list does not show up, just the original.

The other interesting thing is, that based on the following screen capture, one would think I should be seeing a "FusionHDTV, Transport Stream Capture #2," wouldn't you?

I tried adding the FusionHDTV, WDM Video Catpure #2, but immediately got capture errors during the preview, and I believe this was the original problem I had with adding the first FusionHDTV 5.

Needless to say, I'm glad I got the card about 3 weeks before premires start, so I can hopefully have dual HD capture cards working by then...

Anyone got any advice? Or is it time for "Official SageTV Support?"

Edit (07/27/2006 10:55 CST).

I guess I should add that I'm using the latest version of SageTV. I also used the newest drivers from DViCO, 3.41, I believe.

Geogecko,

I just finished setting up my new server using two Fusion RT's and two PVR-500 with no problems after dumping the nForce3 board that I first used. In my setup I don't have the Transport Stream Captures showing up only the WDM captures for both the HDTV cards. I had problems with the preview but went ahead and installed them anyway and everything seems to work. I am using the latest version of the DVico and Sage software. Hope this helps.

Wally.

Hmm...well, that's interesting. I went back in and setup the second tuner as the "WDM Capture #2," and did not get the capture error this time. So, I then went in and started recording an HD feed, and that seemed to work. So, I went and deleted the original "TS Capture," and added it back as "WDM Capture (#1)." I then found two feeds, and recorded both of them at the same time, and that seemed to work.

I'm a little bit nervous about leaving it just yet, so I have scheduled a couple more programs to record before calling it good.

Thanks for the help!

Geogecko.

Wally,

So what do you think was wrong with the nForce3 board using the Fusion tuners?

I'm using an nForce4 board and having problems trying to record on more than one Fusion5 series card. And the problem is not just on Sage, but with the Dvico application S/W as well. Sometimes the recordings are fine. Most of the time I get major breakup of audio & video when recording more than one program at a time.

So far, except for a new motherboard or different HD tuners, I've tried just about everything I can think of. Any insights would be appreciated.

Barry

Barry,

The problem I had with the nForce3 board was that with two PVR 500, a Fusion 5 and a ATI X800 AGP installed the system would run out of resources and not allow the video card and driver to load properly. Because of this my video would only come up in 640x480 4 color mode. Everything would load if I removed one tuner and everything worked on a VIA based board. I needed more PCI slots as I wanted to add another Fusion board so I am now using an Intel 865PE based MSI board with a 2.8C CPU. With both Fusion tuners installed I don't think the Dvico software works anymore but Sage does. I'll do some testing on recording from both Fusion tuners and let you know what I find.

Multiple Fusion 5 RT lite

It sounds like you guys have been significantly more successful with getting one or more Fusion 5 PCI cards working. This may be posted elsewhere but I would love some help with multiple PCI cards.

My system:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-M55plus-S3G
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2GHz
OS: Windows XP SP2
VGA: GIGABYTE Nvidia 7300GT

When I install more than one of the Fusion 5 RT lites at a time, I get an error in the Fusion SW ("Error Connecting ANALOG CAPTURE to deinterlacer filter failed Please, check IRQ of hardware information or reinstall the FustionHDTV drivers and refer to the FAQ.") DViCO suggested it was an IRQ issue and that I move the cards around - I tried that and still no luck. The multiple cards do show up in Sage but they can't record (I've found that if Fusion doesn't work, there is no hope for Sage).

I'm going to have to do a little more IRQ work beyond just swapping around it sounds like unless anyone has "the" method to get this working.

I can't even get 1 fusion 5 lite rt to work right. Whenever i record something on my dualtv or pvr 150 the recording goes to crap. I am using a nforce3 board too. I hate this board. Gonna have to scrap it unless you have some other ideas.
